More than 4 lakh workers are registered at the ESI office located in Odakkadu area of Tirupur district. In case of any queries regarding the ESI Services, they were asked to contact the toll free service number provided by the ESI Administration in which English and Hindi are the languages of communication. Also it is alleged that only Hindi-speaking officials are available at the office.

Under the circumstances, members of the CITU a protest in front of the ESI office, demanding the immediate introduction of the Tamil language in toll free service number and the appointment of Tamil-speaking officials at the ESI office in Tirupur.
