Coimbatore: Coimbatore driver commits suicide after loudspeaker went missing from auto used for COVID awareness campaign
Coimbatore: The tragic incident of an auto driver committing suicide after a loudspeaker went missing from an auto used for COVID campaign in Coimbatore has caused a great deal of sorrow.
Auto driver Subramanian (52) from Peelamedu area of Coimbatore had been driving his auto on a contract basis with Coimbatore Corporation for COVID awareness campaign. Speakers and necessary equipment have been provided on behalf of the Corporation of Coimbatore for the campaign.
The loudspeaker and the equipment provided by the corporation were stolen from Subramanian's auto a couple days back and it is said he seemed depressed. He was so upset that he committed suicide by hanging himself at home after drinking alcohol yesterday.
Peelamedu police registered a case based on a complaint lodged by his wife Pushpa and recovered his body and sent it to GH for an autopsy. Further investigations are underway.
