Shahjahan and Mamuni, a North Indian couple, work in a spinning mill in Karur near Annur in Coimbatore district. A baby girl was born to the couple two days ago. Suddenly the baby's stomach swelled causing difficulty breathing and passage of urine. Following this, they took the child to Annur Government Hospital yesterday.
The doctors who examined the baby there said that proper facilities were not available for treatment and advised them to go to Coimbatore Government Hospital. As they waited for an ambulance, private ambulance driver Siranjeevi offered to take the child to Coimbatore government hospital for free.
They informed the nearby police stations about taking the child to Coimbatore for emergency treatment. Following this, the police in the area alerted the motorists about the ambulance to ensure a traffic-free passage for the ambulance.
Driver Siranjeevi reached Coimbatore Government Hospital with the child in just 27 minutes. Following this, the child was admitted to the intensive care unit and is undergoing treatment there.
Accolades are pouring in from many quarters for the ambulance driver Siranjeevi who volunteered to freely transfer the sick child and the police who, with their concerted efforts, facilitated a safe and seamless passage of ambulance from Annur GH to Coimbatore GH.
