Coimbatore: Tense moments prevailed at Vadavalli Police station for a brief time on Saturday evening, after a 28-year-old woman fainted for fear of court custody in an alleged cheque defraud case.
Punithavathi (28) from Vadavalli was arrested and remanded in 2015 and 2017 on charges of cheque defraud. She was later released on conditional bail in the case and been asked to sign at Vadavalli police station, everyday.
While the trial of three other cases against her was ongoing at the Coimbatore fast track court, the court ordered her arrest in one of the case.
Today, when she arrived to the station along with her mother Kalaivani and brother Sasikumar to sign, the cops had reportedly informed of her arrest.
Fearing arrest, Punithavathi fainted there. The cops revived her and sent her for first aid to a nearby private hospital.
