Coimbatore: A review meeting with officials from all the zones of Corporation on solid waste management and development work was held at the Coimbatore Corporation North Zone office.
The Corporation Commissioner said, "All the streets in all the zones are being cleaned by the cleaning staff, and compostable and non-compostable waste is collected and transported by trolleys and vehicles and taken to the dumb yardin heavy vehicles and composted.
Biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste should be collected separately when cleaning staff receives household waste. The canals leading to rainwater and sewage should be cleaned. The roads need to be cleaned. Do not allow stagnation of water at the houses and prevent the production of mosquitoes. Mosquito repellent should be sprayed regularly by cleaning staff. Meat and poultry waste should be collected separately and billboards should be put up on the roads to prevent littering.
Also, restaurants should be advised not to dump rubbish on the roads. Damaged roads need to be rehabilitated. Do not dig the ground without permission to get a drinking water connection. Defective buildings must be identified and notified. The work of the additional drinking water tanks should be completed and brought into use as soon as possible."

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner of the Corporation S. Madhuranthagi, City Engineer A. Lakshmanan and Zonal Commissioners Senthilkumar Rathinam (North), T.R.Ravi (South), A.J.Senthil Arasan (West), and M.Murugan (East), Executive Engineer Gnanavelu, Assistant Executive Engineers, Assistant Engineers, all zonal health officers and other officials.
