Coimbatore: A Coimbatore college student achieved the feat of playing ethnic percussion instruments such as parai, periya melam, thudumbu and naiyandi melam for 5 hours non-stop with a salangai on his legs.
Vimalraj, a college student from Sulur area in Coimbatore, has been training to play ethnic musical instruments with Gramiya Puthalvan Kalai Kuzhu for the past two years.

Under the circumstances, under the tutelage of Dr. Kalaiyarasan, a member of Puthalvan Kalai Kuzhu, student Vimalraj set by played five musical instruments for five consecutive hours with a salangai on his legs. He set this record as part of his efforts to enter into the Guinness Book of World Records.
Meanwhile, his achievement has been listed under Nobel World Records. The young man has garnered appreciation from many quarters for this feat.
