Siruvani Dam water level rises to 44.08 feet ..!

Coimbatore: The water level of the Coimbatore Siruvani Dam has rose to 44.08 feet due to occasional rains in the catchment areas.

Coimbatore: The water level of the Coimbatore Siruvani Dam has rose to 44.08 feet due to occasional rains in the catchment areas.

Siruvani water is considered as the prime source of water for the people of Coimbatore. Water drawn from the Siruvani Dam is supplied to close to 36 wards and hundreds of villages in Coimbatore.

Located 878.5 meters above sea level, the 49.53 feet high dam can hold 22.47 sq km of water.

Recently, the water level of the dam has been increasing due to moderate rainfall in the catchment areas. Presently, the water level at the dam which stands at 44.08 feet is expected to further rise due to the onset of Northeast monsoon.

A Corporation official said, "As of yesterday, 96 MLD of water is being drawn for drinking purposes from the Siruvani dam."
