The Nilgiris: Coonoor Fire Department conducted a rescue rehearsal. A demonstration was held on how to save the public during the monsoon season as floods are a common occurrence in the Nilgiris district.
People were confused for a while as they thought the demonstration was real. The firefighters demonstrated how to rescue a person trapped in a river.
There was a bit of a stir as people crowded the area. People were relieved when fire officials later told them it was a demonstration.
During the rehearsal, the crew realistically enacted the rescue of a person swept away by floods.
The rehearsal was led by Mohan, Coonoor Fire Station Officer, Nilgiris District. Divisional Officer Ranjit Singh, fire officers Murali and Kannan and many others were present.
