Coimbatore: Federation of Jamaths and Islamic organisations in Coimbatore conducted black flag protest condemning Babri Masjid demolition case verdict.
More than 2,000 people participated and chanted slogans condemning the verdict.
The protest was held near the Red Cross Society in Coimbatore.
More than 500 policemen from various districts including Coimbatore, Tirupur and Erode led by Additional DGP of Law and Order Rajesh Das were deployed for security.
Coordinator Sadiq Ali who later spoke to reporters, said those responsible for the demolition of the Babri Masjid have been acquitted by the Lucknow Special CBI Court, which is condemnable.
He said, "The Babri Masjid was demolished in 1992 and the case had been on trial for 28 years. The Liberhan Commission was set up to investigate the matter. In its report, 68 people, including Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Uma Bharti, were found guilty. Currently, the Lucknow CBI court has acquitted every involved in the Babri Masjid demolition case. This came as a shock to the entire community. We have three demands. The Lucknow CBI should appeal the special court verdict, the dysfunctional CBI system should be dissolved and Home Minister Rajnath Singh should resign."
