The 12-year-old daughter of a barber from Kurumpatti, Dindigul district, was sexually assaulted and killed last year. One Kirubanandan was arrested and interrogated in this case, but he was acquitted on May 29 in a case pending in the Mahila Court.
The protest was held in front of the Tirupur Kumaran Statue on behalf of the Veerathyagi Viswananthadas Tholilalar Katchi, condemning the release of the accused. They also demanded the state government to recommend the CBCID to appeal the case. Protestors chanted slogans demanding relief for the girl's family.
