Coimbatore: Devotees claim a hermit attained Jeeva Samadhi near Coimbatore: Police investigate
Coimbatore: Police are investigating the claim that a hermit had attained Jeeva Samadhi in Coimbatore. It is said that a hermit who was a devotee of Lord Shiva attained Jeeva Samadhi at a private property in Vellamadai near Periyanaickenpalayam next to Coimbatore.

It is said that the 90-year-old hermit by the name of Ramasamy used to stay in mutts in Perur, Othakalmandapam and Marudhamalai, go on foot to various temples and worship Lord Murugan. He is said to have stayed at various mutts and offered blessings to the devotees. It seems that he had many devotees. Under the circumstances, Ramasamy, who was staying at a mutt, was injured in an accident two months ago. He was then admitted to Coimbatore Government Hospital for treatment.

After three days of treatment, his devotees took him to a mutt at RS Puram and was looking after him. He is said to have died 15 days later. The devotees then brought his body to a private farm in the Vellamadai area near Periyanaickenpalayam in Coimbatore and buried the body in a meditating position. It is said that they are going to build a temple with Ramasamy as the deity.

Following this, devotees of Lord Shiva and the general public from the Vellamadai and surroundings gathered to pay homage to his tomb. The incident has caused a great stir in the area.
