Tirupur: Non-political farmers associations in Tirupur petition for grievance day meeting to be held after 8-month break
Tirupur: Non-political farmers associations submitted petition to the District Collector for grievance day meeting to be held after 8 months due to COVID lockdown.
Farmers' grievance meeting has not been held in Tirupur district for the past eight months amid a nationwide lockdown in order to curb the spread of the COVID. They said that the farmers are in a situation where they could not report their grievances to the district administration and that a high level of corruption is taking place and bribery has become common.

Farmers have petitioned the Tirupur district collector's office to conduct the grievance meeting. They also demanded the removal of a coal factory that has been operating in Kangeyam for a year.

They warned if their demands or not that they would lay siege to the Kangeyam Tahsildar Office on November 2.
