He is working as a doctor in a private hospital. His wife is Karthika (43). The couple has a five-year-old daughter. Karthika has been suffering from mental illness for the last few years and has been receiving treatment at a private hospital. Due to ill health, she was staying alone at home not allowing her husband to be with her.
Vijayakumar visited his wife on the 4th and left for the hospital and stayed there. Yesterday, when Karthika's sister Vasumathi tried to contact her through her cell phone, her phone had been switched off.
On suspicion, Vasumathivisited Karthika's house at 7.30 pm and saw the door of the house was locked from inside. The Ramanathapuram police was alerted and found the charred remains of Karthika.
They recovered Karthika's body and sent it for an autopsy. Police are investigating whether she committed suicide or died accidentally.
