In Uttar Pradesh's Hathras district, a dalit was sexually assaulted and died in hospital failing treatment. Subsequently, the woman's body was cremated without even being handed over to relatives.
Various parties have been staging protests and demonstrations condemning the incident and condemning the police for not arresting the culprits and also condemning Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
As part of this, a demonstration was held on behalf of the Dravidar Panpattu Kootiyakkam in front of the Coimbatore South Taluk Office.
It was attended by more than 200 people from various organizations including TPDK, DVK, Dravidar Tamilar Katchi, and May 17 Iyakkam.
The protesters demanded justice for the victim's family, the dissolution of the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh, which has been working in support of the perpetrators, and permission for women to carry guns for their protection.
The protesters also demanded that appropriate measures be taken to provide adequate protection to women.
