Coimbatore: Delay in capturing fingerprints for One Country One Card scheme due to technical glitches in ration shops in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: Due to technical glitches, the public in Coimbatore district is suffering due to delays in capturing fingerprints at ration shops for One Country One Card scheme.

The Central government has implemented the One Country One Card scheme across the country. Items will only be available if one of the family members registers on the smart card under this scheme goes directly to the ration shop. For this, fingerprint registration with biometric equipment is being done in ration shops.

There are a total of 1,419 ration shops in Coimbatore district. The new scheme has been implemented in the first phase in only 135 ration shops in Coimbatore South Taluk. Biometric equipment has been provided to these ration shops for this purpose.

In this case, the internet speed is low because these devices are equipped with 3G SIM cards. Due to this, the public is suffering due to the delay in capturing their fingerprints.
District Civil Supplies Corporation officials said, "Currently, biometric devices are equipped with 3G SIM cards. Thus the internet speed is slow. Top officials have been informed about this. Steps will be taken to provide 4G SIM cards soon.”
