The passersby who found the man dead on the tracks alerted the Peelamedu railway police.
A preliminary enquiry into the death has been commenced by the railway police to ascertain if the man committed suicide or if he was run over by a train, while he was crossing the railway tracks.
If body has been retrieved and sent for autopsy to Coimbatore Government hospital.
