Anaimalai police on September 15 arrested five people, including Satish, in connection with a Rs 1.72 crore scam involving Muthu, the owner of a private resort in the Ganapathipalayam area near Pollachi.
Following this, the main culprit Anupkumar, who was in hiding, was arrested on September 22. Rs 40 lakh cash, four luxury cars, 50 soverigns of gold jewelery, two country-maded guns and five cell phones were seized from him.
In this situation, the Anaimalai police filed a petition in the court regarding the detention of Anupkumar to investigate the case. Anaimalai police are investigating Anupkumar, who was brought from Udumalaipettai jail last night after the court allowed him to be taken into custody one day.
During the investigation, the police got information about a person from Kerala who sold guns to a fraudulent gang. Also, a gun (air gun) , a sofa and a bed worth Rs 1 lakh 60 thousand were confiscated.
Also confiscated were documents related to the purchase of 50 sovereigns of jewelry and luxury cars
Following the end of the enquiry last evening, Anupkumar was again produced in one of the Pollachi Courts and taken to the Avinashi Jail by the Anaimalai Police.
