Coimbatore: Founder of Puthiya Tamilagam Katchi Dr. Krishnasamy said Chief Minister has touched fire without knowledge Devendra Kula Vellalar's war history.
Founder of Puthiya Tamilagam Katchi Dr. Krishnasamy had announced a hunger strike at 10,000 places across Tamil Nadu, demanding the removal of the Devendra Kula Velalar from the SC list.
Police refused to allow to permission for the hunger strike to be held in district capitals, suburban, town panchayats and villages due to COVID-19 infections. Meanwhile, hunger strikes are taking place in various parts of Coimbatore in violation of the ban. Dr. Krishnasamy, the founding leader of the Puthiya Tamilar Katchi, took part in a hunger strike in the Coimbatore Uppilipalayam area led by Coimbatore District Chief Coordinator Shankar Guru.
He later told reporters, “We continue to insist that the government should issue an order to unite Pallar, Kudumbar, Pannadi and Kaaladi and categorize them as Devendra Kula Vellalar." He also demanded that various requests of the Devendra Kula Vellalars should be addressed by the Central and State Governments immediately.
He said that Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy had touched fire without knowing the war history of the Devendra Kula Vellalars and said the protest that was supposed to have been held in 10,000 places didn't take place due to police restrictions. He also said that Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy should act with a clear conscience and understand that scare tactics would not work. The CM knows that this is a community that fought even during the times of Karunanidhi and Jayalalithaa.
He accused the central and state governments of backtracking on their promises to fulfill the demands of the Devendrakula Vellalars. The protest was attended by many, including Prabhu Kumar Pattakarar, the chief of Devendrakula Vellalar Sangam.
