Coimbatore: The district administration said that there will be door-to-door inspection for preventing proliferation of dengue mosquitoes in the city.
Coimbatore Corporation has 100 wards in five zones namely East, West, Central, South and North. The northeast monsoon is expected to start this month following the end of the southwest monsoon in September as a result of which roads, sewers and low-lying areas in Coimbatore are likely to receive rainwater.
Under the circumstances, dengue control measures are being taken on behalf of the corporation as a precautionary measure as dengue mosquitoes are likely to be produced in storage containers for drinking water at homes.
Coimbatore Corporation administration has advised the concerned authorities and the zonal level officials along with the health department officials to monitor water stagnation, detect the production of mosquitoes in them, spray insecticides to prevent mosquito production and take action to prevent water stagnation in crowded places including bus stands.
A corporation official said, "We plan to conduct door-to-door inspections to prevent the production of dengue mosquitoes. We will check if dengue mosquito worms are in water drums used at home and if there is water stagnant near water tanks on the roofs of the house. Action will be taken to eradicate dengue mosquitoes by conducting inspection. In addition, areas including shopping malls, bus stations and office buildings will be inspected."
