World Tourism Day is celebrated every year on September 27th. The theme of World Tourism Day 2020 is "Tourism and Rural Development". Coimbatore and Tirupur District Tourism Officer T. Aravindakumar spoke through a video conference between Coimbatore and Tirupur District Tourism Entrepreneurs on the impact of COVID-19 caused by the coronavirus on tourism and the steps being taken by the government to recover it.
A quiz competition on behalf of the tourism department was held across Tamil Nadu and an essay competition and painting competition was held between government schools in Tirupur district.

Ramesh, Chief Education Officer, Tirupur District andT. Aravindakumar jointly presented gifts and certificates to the winners of the essay competition. Madanraj (first) Hazira Banu (second), and Ashvika (third) and the winners of the painting competition Dhanyasree (first) Hemachandra (second) and Mari Selvam (third) were awarded.

On behalf of the Tamil Nadu Tourism Department, the Chief Educational Officer presented an appreciation certificate to teacher Jawahar for coordinating the World Tourism Day celebrations and competitions. District Special Education Officer Sivakumar participated as the special guest in this function.

Arrangements for the celebrations were made by District Assistant Tourism Officer Selvaraj and Coordinator Ramakrishnan.
