Coimbatore: A 64-year-old man was trampled to death by an elephant in Coimbatore's Mangarai reserve forest area, on late Sunday night.
Selvam (64) from a hamlet near Mangarai was grazing cattle around the Thadagam Valley, on Sunday. After sunset, Selvam has reportedly ventured into the reserve forest area to check on his cattle. Unexpectedly, he encountered a lone tusker at close quarters, which chased and trampled him to death.
Upon information, the forest officials rushed to the spot and retrieved his corpse and sent to Coimbatore GH for autopsy. A case has been registered at Thadagam police station.
