Coimbatore: Fire Department conducts rescue rehearsal at Aliyar Dam
Coimbatore: In view of the imminent northeast monsoon, rescue rehearsals are being conducted by the Fire Department in Pollachi, Anaimalai and surrounding areas at the foothills of the Western Ghats.
As part of this, a rescue rehearsal was held today at the Aliyar Dam near Pollachi on behalf of the Pollachi Fire Department. Pollachi Fire Station Officer Purushothaman presided over the event, which was attended by Station Officer Prabhakaran, Anaimalai Tahsildar Venkatachalam and other officials.
Procedures such as how to rescue drowning victims during heavy rains, provide first aid to rescuers, and use rescue materials available at the scene were practically demonstrated.
The public can seek help from the Fire Department for rescue assistance in times of heavy rain and disaster, officials said.
