Tirupur: Man lying naked under the influence of alcohol in Tirupur was crushed to death with a stone.
Sureshkumar, 35 from Golden Nagar, Tirupur, was unmarried and lived with his mother Jayanthi. The man, who had been doing painting jobs, was said to have professional competition in taking up painting contracts with his neighbour Selvam.Both had been at loggerheads with each other over their careers. Suresh Kumar's mother had gone to Chennai to see her daughter on Gandhi Jayanti.
Under the circumstances, Sureshkumar, who was drunk last night, fell near his house and was lying down without any clothes. Seeing this, Selvam chided Sureshkumar and asked him to go home. Sureshkumar, who was in an inebriated state, spoke to Selvam in a harsh manner. An enraged Selvam took a big chunk of a stone and struck Sureshkumar on his head and went away to his house.
Early in the morning, the Tirupur North police received information that a naked Suresh Kumar was fighting for his life with grievous head injuries. Police rushed to the spot, rescued Suresh Kumar and sent him to Tirupur GH.
Doctors who examined him said he was dead on arrival. Following this, police have arrested Selvam and are continuing their investigation.
