The Nilgiris: Carrot washing station proprietor in Ooty fined for not enforcing social distancing norms
The Nilgiris: Proprietor of a carrot washing station has been fined for making employees work without following social distancing.
Ketti Town Panchayat Executive officer P. Nataraj levied Rs. 5000 fine on the said owner.
Even as COVID infections are up in the Nilgiris district, the district administration has ordered to impose fines on those involved in violations of the preventive measures in municipality and panchayat areas, in order to control the spread of the disease.
Following this, Ketti Town Panchayat Executive Officer Nataraj inspected carrot washing stations, shops and surrounding areas. Fines were imposed on those who did not wear face masks in these areas. Ketti Municipality Executive Officer Nataraj said that a total of Rs.10,200 was collected in fines for those who violated the rules.
