Coimbatore: A fire broke out at a private lodge on the upper floor opposite to Pollachi Masaniyamman temple, today. Four employees who were stuck inside, jumped down and fortunately escaped. The fire department fought for an over an hour to douse the fire.

Abdul Rahman, runs a private on the first floor of the Indian Overseas Bank, opposite to Anaimalai Masaniyamman Temple near Pollachi. Today, fire broke out at the lodge, and hearing the employees cry for help, the public rushed to rescue them.

However, as the fire spread rapidly and billowed into the sky, the public alerted tbe Pollachi fire service department.
Meanwhile, the staff at the lodge jumped down from the roof, fearing for their lives. One of the staff, Devasenadhipathy was injured.

Later, firefighters fought for hours to contain the blaze. The timely intervention saved from the fire spreading to the bank located in the ground floor.
Even after Anamalai is declared as taluka, yet there is no fire station in the area. For every such accidents, people have to wait for the fire engine to rush from Pollachi. Therefore, the Anamalai residents have demanded to set up a seperate fire station, immediately.
