Coimbatore: Grama Sabha meetings could have been held in villages where COVID-19 infections are sparse said BJP State Vice-President Vanathi Srinivasan in press meet today.
BJP vice-president Vanathi Srinivasan paid homage to the Gandhi statue on Vysiyal Road in Coimbatore on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

She then started the Tulsi Yatra to meet BJP party volunteers in the Selvapuram area under the Coimbatore South Assembly constituency and went door to door to meet the party volunteers.
She later told reporters that it was unnecessary for the Tamil Nadu government to cancel the Grama Sabha meetings and that they may have been held with a social distancing as COVID-19 infections in the villages are sparse. She said that if resolutions are passed in Gram Sabha meetings against the Central Government's agricultural laws, it will not have a major impact.
She also said that if the Gram Sabhas are held, people would have the opportunity to know about the agricultural laws and there was no large-scale opposition to the agricultural laws in Tamil Nadu. She said it was the Speaker's decision to cancel the floral tribute to Gandhi statue in the Parliament premises on Gandhi Jayanti. She added that the tribute may have been canceled as Vice President Venkaiah Naidu was infected with COVID-19. She also said that BJP members across the country are paying floral tributes to the Gandhi statue.
She said the Tulsi Yatra is being held everywhere in Coimbatore on behalf of the BJP to strengthen booth committees. She also said that the party would decide on whether she would contest the election. Discussing the OPS-EPS issue, she said when O. Paneerselvam went away from AIADMK, it was Prime Minister Modi who said that both the OPS and the EPS should be united..
She said the BJP was not interested in interfering in this. She added that if OPS and EPS want to resolve their differences in the presence of somebody else, it would be their choice.
