Coimbatore:COVID-19: TN posts 5,688 new cases and 5,516 recoveries
Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu on Thursday logged 5,688 fresh cases of COVID-19 and 66 related fatalities, taking the total number of infections to 6,03,290 and the State toll to 9,586, according to the State Health Department media bulletin.
The day also witnessed 5,516 patients getting discharged after recovery from various hospitals across the State.
As of September 30, cumulatively 6,03,290 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the state, which include 9,586 deaths and 5,47,335 discharges, the Health Department said in its bulletin.
Of the new cases reported today, State Capital Chennai reported 1,289. The metro is back to 1,000 plus cases for days in a row now.
Among the districts where a higher number of cases were reported, Coimbatore accounted for 550, Salem 341, Chengalpattu 356, Thiruvallur 260, and Thanjavur 232.
Tirupur logged a single-day spike of 192 cases and the Nilgiris 72.
According to the bulletin, the number of active cases stood at 46,369.
A total of 74,41,697 samples have been tested till date of which 87,647 were tested over the last 24 hours alone.
