Coimbatore: Corporation Corporation Commissioner directs officials to expedite Smart City Projects in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: Corporation Commissioner and Special officer P. Kumaravel inspected the construction of a model road from the junction of RS Puram, Diwan Bahadur Road, Sukrawarpet Road to Cowley Brown Road in the West zone at an estimated cost of Rs. 24.36 crores.

Work under the Smart City Project in Coimbatore includes road construction, sewerage pipe laying, electrical cables installation, laying of 24X7 drinking water pipes, telecommunication cable, rainwater drainage, sidewalks and luminescent billboards.

He asked the health officials to spray mosquito repellents in front of shops on both sides of the road and prevent water stagnation and mosquito infestation in the canals leading to the sewers. He also directed the officials to speed up the work to prevent traffic congestion.

City Engineer A. Lakshmanan, Tamil Nadu Electricity Board Executive Engineer Vaitheeswaran, Town Planning Officer Ravichandran, Assistant Engineer Suganthi, Assistant Engineers Kamalakannan, Sathyamoorthy, Drinking Water Division Assistant Engineers, Zonal Health Officer and Corporation officials were present during the inspection.
