Coimbatore: A youngster drowned to death in a check dam near Anaimalai causing great sorrow in the area.
Mani (27), a laborer from Mahaliamman Kovil Road near Anaimalai, went for a bath with friends at a check dam on the Aliyar River that runs through Anaimalai yesterday.
He unexpectedly sank into the dam. Following a complaint lodged by his friends, Fire Department personnel and the public were in search of Mani.
Under the circumstances, Mani's body was recovered today. Police sent the body to Pollachi Government Hospital for an autopsy. A case has been registered in this regard and an investigation is underway.
