The Nilgiris: Ooty Medical College and Hospital projects underway on full swing
The Nilgiris: MGR Medical University Review Committee Coordinator Dr. P Murugesan said that the construction work for the Government Medical College and Hospital, which is being set up on 40 acres of land at a cost of Rs. 447 crores in Ooty, is progressing at a rapid pace.

He inspected the construction work being carried out at the Kakkathoppu area in Ooty today along with the dean and officials of the college. He later told reporters that the construction work was going on full swing as the college would start enrolling students from the next academic year.
He said it is being planned to complete work for three departments in 6 months. He said the college would be located in a natural environment where people could easily come and go and various modern facilities would be set up including galleries that could seat 180 students in for examination purposes.
