Over 1,800 flights operated under Air India Express Vande Bharat Mission Phase 7: No flights scheduled for Coimbatore Airport once again

Coimbatore: Over 1,800 flights have been operated under Air India Express Vande Bharat Mission Phase 7, but no flights were scheduled for Coimbatore Airport again.

Coimbatore: More than 1,800 flights to be operated under Air India Express Vande Bharat Mission Phase 7, but no flights were scheduled for Coimbatore Airport again.

Flights under Air India Express Vande Bharat mission and bubble flights were scheduled in Phase 7 operate, both 'International to India' and 'India to International,' for various destinations.

Yet again, Coimbatore Airport has been left out without any services whereas Trichy and Madurai were scheduled. One of the top officials of Air India, Coimbatore said, "If no services have been scheduled for Coimbatore it means Coimbatore Airport will act as a connecting point. More passengers are needed to operate flight services under the Vande Bharat mission. Yes, under the mission, Air India Express is operating services from Madurai Airport. Previously Coimbatore was provided services from places like Singapore, Dubai, Sharjah, etc., by Air India. The management is ready to operate but the question is whether more number passengers will come forward to avail the service from Coimbatore."

He also added that, "Passengers in foreign countries will contact the embassy in their country and if more than hundred passengers are showing interest to travel to Coimbatore, definitely the embassy will intimate us. Above all it is the government that has to decide, and not the airline."

Kongu Global Forum (KGF) Director, D. Nanda Kumar said," It is really worrying that no services have been provided for Coimbatore Airport by Air India Express under Vande Bharat mission Phase 7. If the flight services are provided to Coimbatore, then the passengers who use the Coimbatore Airport will come forward to avail the services. At present, people from not only Coimbatore but also the surrounding seven districts are using the airport. Since the services are not provided they are forced to avail the services provided to airports in cities including Madurai, Trichy and Chennai. The central government should take steps to add Coimbatore airport also in the mission list so that more passengers would be benefitted."

What is bubble flight service?

It is an agreement made between two countries. For example if one nation is operating two flight services to another nation, as per the bubble agreement, the other nation should also provide two flight services.
