Coimbatore: The work of setting up a bird park in Pollachi Jothi Nagar area has been begun by the Municipality to protect endangered bird species. The project has been well received by the people.
Coimbatore: The work of setting up a bird park in Pollachi Jothi Nagar area has been begun by the Municipality to protect endangered bird species. The project has been well received by the people.
There are 36 wards in the Pollachi Municipality. Parks and children's parks have been set up various residential areas by the Municipality. Meanwhile, residents of Jothi Nagar requested to build a bird park on the site of the municipal park at the park in their locality.
Following this, with the help of a private school, Pollachi Municipal Commissioner Gandhiraj and officials began the work today. Also, 25 fruit trees including sapodilla, pomegranate, guava and gooseberry, some of the favorite foods of the bird, were planted.

Authorities also plan to erect a natural fence around the park. Accordingly, 30 ashoka tree saplings were planted around the park. Arrangements for providing drip irrigation to the saplings are also in place.
The people in the area said this will enhance the natural beauty of the residential areas and protect endangered species of birds.
