Coimbatore:COVID-19: TN logs 5,589 new cases and 5,554 recoveries
Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu on Monday logged 5,589 fresh cases of COVID-19 and 70 related fatalities, taking the total number of infections to 5,86,397 and the State toll to 9,383, according to the State Health Department media bulletin.
The day also saw 5,554 patients getting discharged after recovery from various hospitals across the State.
As of September 28, cumulatively 5,86,397 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the state, which include 9,383 deaths and 5,30,708, the Health Department said in its bulletin.
Of the new cases reported today, State Capital Chennai reported 1283. The metro is back to 1,000 plus cases for five days in a row now.
Among the districts where a higher number of cases were reported, Coimbatore accounted for 587, Salem 256, Chengalpattu 249, and Thiruvallur 249.
Tirupur logged a single-day spike of 198 cases and the Nilgiris 137.
According to the bulletin, the number of active cases stood at 46,306.
A total of 71,81,125 samples have been tested till date of which 80,465 were tested over the last 24 hours alone.
