At the meeting, environmental activists suggested that the construction of a model road under the SmartCity project in Coimbatore should be done without damaging the trees.
In addition, work is underway to rehabilitate pools and parks. Volunteers commented on the task of increasing green areas, setting up sewage treatment plants, expediting work and removing encroachments in order to protect the environment.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner of the Corporation S. Madurantaki, Municipal Engineer A. Lakshmanan, SmartCity Project Advisors Rock Raveendran, Osai Syed, Siruthuli Saravanan, Volunteers and Transport Officer.
