Coimbatore: A protest was held in front of the Coimbatore South Tahsildar office on behalf of the DMK alliance parties, protesting against the central government's farm bill and condemning the AIADMK government for supporting it.
Demonstrations were held at 5 places in Coimbatore district on behalf of the DMK alliance. The protest, which took place in front of the Coimbatore South Tahsildar office, was led by KMDK general secretary Easwaran.
The DMK alliance parties, wearing green shawl, protested against the central and state governments for the demonstration.
Later, the KMDK general secretary Easwaran said, "As far as Tamil Nadu is concerned, the state government is a government that blindly supports whatever central government brings. The AIADMK government supports this knowing fully well that it is a law skewed against farmers.
Also, AIADMK Rajya Sabha member S.R. Balasubramaniam pointed out the disadvantages of this law and accused the Chief Minister of not listening to him and saying that the scheme was beneficial and that he was making others tell good about the scheme too for personal reasons.
The AIADMK government is dismanting the rights of farmers for personal issues and the Tamil Nadu government should oppose the law and come to people with the truth.
If the central government does not listen, it would have to face major revolutions. These projects would not provide free electricity and would lead to the closure of co-operative banks and this will hugely impact the farmers. The central government hasto repeal these laws for the benefit of the farmers, and not for the opposition.
The protest was attended by many including former minister Pongalur Palanichamy, Singanallur DMK legislator Na Karthik and DMK alliance party executives.
