The Tamil Nadu government has announced that schools will be reopened for classes 10, 11 and 12 from October the 1st. As the schools are about to reopen, an additional 300 government town buses will be operated on behalf of the Coimbatore division of the TN State Transport Corporation from the 1st of October to facilitate students to travel to the schools where they are studying.

Transport officials said, "Currently 287 buses are operating in the district. Since the schools are about to open, the number of passengers might increase. Therefore, we have planned to operate 300 more buses."

"Due to the COVID pandemic, free bus passes usually issued to the students were put on hold this year. So, it is enough if they show the conductors the free bus passes issued last year. Conductors have also been instructed not to collect fare from students who are in uniforms" they added.
