Coimbatore: Stern action against pharmacies that sell medications without prescriptions - Pollachi Sub-Collector Vaidhyanathan
Coimbatore: Stern action will be taken against pharmacies that sell medications without prescriptions, warned Pollachi Sub-Collector Vaidhyanathan at a consultative meeting held at the Sub-Collector's office.
A consultative meeting was held at the Pollachi Sub-Collectorate today with the participation of health and revenue department officials. Tahsildars from Pollachi, Valparai, and Kinathukadavu and health officials including Health Department Officer Vijayakumar were amongst those present.
Speaking at the meeting, the Sub-Collector said, "Reports on COVID testing by private medical examination centres in Pollachi are not duly reported to the Revenue Department. The Health Department should inspect such anomalies and fetch the reports. Also, in pharmacies operating in urban and rural areas, medications should not be sold without prescriptions. Shop owners who do not comply with the regulations during the investigation will be prosecuted under the Public Health Act. Such pharmacies would be sealed and fines would be levied."
Earlier, during a meeting held at the Tahsildar office, the Sub-Collector said, "Eateries operating in Pollachi town and suburbs do not observe the mandatory social distancing. Owners of such shops that violate the COVID preventive regulations will face severe action. Barring medical shops, every shop in Pollachi should shut down their shutters by 8 PM."
