Following this, his body was taken to his home in Nungambakkam. Many celebrities and members of the public paid homage to his body there.
Later in the evening, his body was taken to his farm house at Thamaraipakkam near Thiruvallur and rituals were performed per family custom. After the singer's son SP Charan performed the funeral rites amid vedic chants by priests, 24 police personnel gave a gun salute and later the body was lowered into a deep pit and buried.
Meanwhile, musicians, politicians and actors across Tamil Nadu condole the singer's death and keep paying their tributes.
In that vein, musicians from the Kovai Raj Melodies Orchestra sang SPB's songs for more than an hour and paid musical tribute to the deceased singer.
