Coimbatore: A petition was filed at the Pollachi Municipal Office on behalf of the BJP stressing various demands including speedy completion of the sewerage canal work that is going on in Pollachi.

Sewerage work in 36 wards of Pollachi Mnicipality was started in 2016. Rs. 172 crore rupees has been allocated on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu for the work.
This being the case, the contractors are said to delay the completion of the work. Therefore, a petition was filed at the Municipal office today, on behalf of the Bharatiya Janata Party, demanding that the works be expedited.
The petition reads, 'Sewerage work in Pollachi has not been completed within the stipulated days and is progressing at a snail's pace. The municipal administration should take immediate action to complete the work. Sewers in all the 36 wards of the municipality should be cleared and basic facilities should be improved. We request for installation of electric lights and water facility in the Hindu cemetery opposite the Udumalai Road Teachers Colony. The use of plastic is increasing in the urban areas, so authorities should take action to control this. We also request that library at Pollachi Marapettai be maintaied in a proper manner and made accessible to the public."
