Coimbatore:COVID-19: TN records 5,679 cases and 5,626 recoveries
Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu on Friday logged 5,679 fresh cases of COVID-19 and 72 related fatalities, taking the total number of infections to 5,69,370 and the State toll to 9,148, according to the State Health Department media bulletin.
The day also saw 5,626 patients getting discharged after recovery from various hospitals across the State.
As of September 25, cumulatively 5,69,370 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the state, which include 9,148 deaths and 5,13,836 discharges, the Health Department said in its bulletin.
Of the new cases reported today, State Capital Chennai reported 1193. The metro is back to 1,000 plus cases for two consecutive days now.
Among the districts where a higher number of cases were reported, Coimbatore accounted for 661, Salem 297, Chengalpattu 277, Thiruvallur 229 and Cuddalore 235.
Tirupur logged a single-day spike of 158 cases and the Nilgiris logged a new high of 137 fresh cases in a day.
According to the bulletin, the number of active cases stood at 46,386.
A total of 69,10,521 samples have been tested till date of which a record 94,877 were tested over the last 24 hours alone.
