Coimbatore: Blockage in Rajavaaikal inundates over 50 houses in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: On Thursday, the residents of Palanisamy Colony in Ponnaiyarajapuram woke up to a nightmare, as their houses were inundated with flood water due to a major blockage in Rajavaaikal.
With copious rains along the foothills of Western Ghats in Coimbatore district, inflow has considerably increased to all water channels across Coimbatore. As the water channels are interconnected, flooding in one pond leads to the same at others too.
On those lines, the surplus water from Muttannankulam reaches Selvachinthamani Kulam through the Rajavaikkal.Meanwhile, due to a major blockage in Rajavaikkal, flood water infiltrated into Palanichamy Colony near Ponnaiyarajapuram.
The residents are left clueless due to the seepage of water into more than 50 homes. Officials from the Corporation have geared up measures to clear the blockage in the Rajavaikkal.
