The Nilgiris: Farmers in the Nilgiris district are happy as the selling prices of carrots are ranging from Rs. 40 to Rs. 75 per kg.

Farmers in the Nilgiris largely cultivate vegetables, including carrots and beetroot, next to tea. The vegetables produced daily by the farmers are taken to the 60 washing stations in the district, cleaned and transported to other districts and states.



Around 500 tonnes are processed per day. Carrots are now getting good prices and farmers are happy with the current average price of Rs. 40 to Rs. 75 per The prices were up to Rs. 50 to Rs. 90 two days ago.
