Coimbatore: A young man was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Periyanaickenpalayam forest range here, on Wednesday night.
Coimbatore: A young man was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Periyanaickenpalayam forest range here, on Wednesday night.
Owing to increased elephant movement along the ghat area in PN Palayam forest range, the forest department had advised the public to avoid venturing in the dark.
According to reports, on Wednesday night, Gnanaprakash, a native of Kerala residing at PN Palayam along with his friend in a two-wheeler was travelling back home from a farm near Moonukuttai near Kobanari village.
Unexpectedly, a lone tusker charged at their vehicle killing Gnanaprakash on the spot. His friend Arunkumar escaped without any injuries.
Later, the forest department was informed about the incident and the body of the deceased was retrieved. The Karamadai police sent the body to Coimbatore GH for autopsy. A case has been registered.
The untimely death of an youngster due to wild animal attack has caused much grief among the villagers and his relatives.
