Coimbatore: COVID-19:TN posts 5,363 recoveries to 5,325 new cases
Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu on Wednesday logged posted 5,325 fresh cases of COVID-19 and 63 related fatalities, taking the total number of infections to 5,57,999 and the State toll post the 9,000 mark to 9010, according to the State Health Department media bulletin.
The day also saw 5,363 patients getting discharged after recovery from various hospitals across the State.
As of September 20, cumulatively 5,57,999 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the state, which include 9010 deaths and 5,02,740 discharges, the Health Department said in its bulletin.
Of the new cases reported today, 980 were from State Capital Chennai.
Among the districts where a higher number of cases were reported, Coimbatore accounted for 587, Salem 298, Chengalpattu 297, Thiruvallur 218 and Kancheepuram 205.
Tirupur logged a single-day spike of 247cases while the Nilgiris 89.
According to the bulletin, the number of active cases stood at 46,249.
A total of 67,25,037 samples have been tested till date of which a whopping 84,979 were tested over the last 24 hours.
