Power supply to Tirupur Government Hospital was cut off yesterday as part of construction work of medical college. The incident, which left two people dead in a row due to disruption in the supply of oxygen to the isolated area, caused a great stir.
DYFI had already petitioned the district and hospital administration to provide basic facilities at the Government Hospital which is yet to be resolved. Under the circumstances, DYFI today staged a sit-in protest in front of the District Collector's Office demanding immediate improvement of all the basic facilities required for the Government Hospital, increased COVID-19 tests and provision of coronavirus treatment facilities.
