Coimbatore: Pollachi Farmers rejoice, as Copra price increases by Rs. 300 per quintal. In the auction held yesterday at the Pollachi Anamalai Regulated Market in Coimbatore district, the supply of copra was higher than last week. Farmers were happy with the price increase of Rs 300 per quintal.
The Superintendent of Sales, Manivasakam said, "Farmers from the Anamalai area brought 314 bundles for sale yesterday. In the presence of the traders, the officials sorted them and auctioned them. First grade copra fetched a minimum of Rs 10,610 per quintal and a maximum of Rs. 11100. 142 bundles of second grade copra sold for a maximum of Rs. 9500 and a minimum of Rs. 7510 per quintal. 10 traders and 68 farmers participated in the auction. The supply was higher than last week. A total of 150 quintals were auctioned for Rs 13.50 lakh."
