Coimbatore: Central government has created a platform for farmers to sell produce directly, said BJP State Vice President Kanagasabapathy.
He spoke to reporters at the BJP office in Coimbatore. He said, The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement has relaxed major restrictions on agriculture.

Two important bills including The Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020, The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement has been passed. He said that the central government has created an environment where farmers can sell their produce travelling to any part of the country directly to companies, traders and consumers and complete protection has been provided to farmers.
He said that only farmers have the full rights to their produce and they can get crop loans and insurance. They can hence directly determine their profit. He said there is no truth in the opposition's accusation that state rights would be diluted by these laws. He further added that any information on farmers' lands would not be included in the agreements with traders and companies.
He added that farmers can withdraw the contract anytime if they do not have the option and contracts will be put in place with the farmers only for a specific period of time for certain crops. He also said the central government has also introduced the Kisan Rail for farmers, which provides an opportunity for farmers to sell their produce to companies that quote higher prices.
He said that with this, the laws would allow to sell agricultural produce at different parts of the country at a good price. These laws would support independent farming and 3.9 crore tonnes of agricultural produce had been procured by the central government this year.
He added that the central government will raise the minimum price and also projects are being implemented to double the income of farmers. He said that these laws will eliminate middlemen and help the agricultural sector grow.
