The Nilgiris district has been receiving heavy rains since last night. Regions like Ooty, Gudalur, Panthalur, Devala, Upper Bhavani and Avalanche have been receiving heavy showers.
Nilgiris District Collector Innocent Divya requested that if there is a landslide or tree falls in the Nilgiris district, the toll free number 1077 should be informed immediately. She advised the people living in the low-lying areas to be safe and said that 280 camps are ready to keep them safe in case of any untoward incident. As the wind speed was high, she asked everyone not to park vehicles under trees. Avalanche received the maximum rainfall of 18.2 cm.
