Coimbatore: Minister SP Velumani inaugurated Coronavirus testing vehicles in Coimbatore today.The number of COVID-19 infections is increasing in Coimbatore district.
Everyday at least 500 cases are recorded. Medical camps are conducted daily on behalf of the Corporation in the areas under the Coimbatore Corporation to treat those diagnosed with infections.
Minister SP Velumani today launched 20 mobile test vehicles and 5 awareness vehicles in the Sundakkamuthur area of Coimbatore. Minister said that testing is being carried out in a very special manner throughout Tamil Nadu and due to CM's efforts the water bodies ponds across the Tamil Nadu filled up last year and they are filling up this year as well.
He said all the water bodies, especially in Coimbatore, are overflowing. He added that Tamil Nadu is the only state in India where the virus is being tested on a large scale and about 7,000 people a day are being tested for the virus in Coimbatore.
A doctor and a nurse will be on board in the vehicle. The mobile test sample collection vehicles currently in place will be equipped with adequate medical equipment and pharmaceutical products. So far 10,810 special fever camps have been conducted in Coimbatore and tests have been carried out on 11,63,212 persons. Coimbatore has more than 9,000 people receiving treatment for COVID-19. Siddha treatment has cured 712 people.
The event was attended by District Collector Rajamani, Corporation Commissioner Kumaravel Pandian and health officials. Minister SP Velumani also distributed immune booster packs to the people of Sundakkamuthur area.
