Coimbatore Medical College Hospital performs successful surgeries on nine COVID-19 patients

Coimbatore: In a first of its kind in the district, a team of surgeons at CMCH performed life saving surgeries on Covid-19 patients.


Coimbatore: In a first of its kind in the district, a team of surgeons at CMCH performed life saving surgeries on Covid-19 patients.

Out of 40 corona patients admitted in the hospital, the surgical team carried out operations on as many as nine patients and saved their lives.

In a statement released by the hospital, it is said that the youngest one to undergo surgery was a thirteen-year-old girl and the oldest was a 70-year-old man.

Of the nine patients who underwent surgeries, three patients were admitted after having their intestine damaged in an accident, while the rest of them had several complaints including amputation of leg, clogged arteries, etc rectified, according to a statement released by the hospital.

Besides, the hospital have also treated nearly 420 regular patients at the emergency surgical ward even while the corona positive cases kept increasing.
